Life is full of surprises! I didn’t intend to get into sales and marketing, in fact, I dreaded asking people for their business at all until I launched my own company.

Prior to that I was Legal Services Director for a well known national employment law consultancy and under no illusion that sales were key to success but, until I founded Employment Law Essentials (ELE) in 2004, the sales targets had been someone else’s problem... they very quickly became mine!

I learned to market and sell ELE’s services because all my savings were invested in the company and failure wasn’t an option. Admittedly, it was a steep learning curve and I made lots of mistakes but as a result, developed a successful system over the years and soon I was enjoying a comfortable ‘lifestyle’ business.

However, I was keen to grow the business and when we started licensing ELE’s hosted HR web service to other employment lawyers in 2007 I knew that I needed help to turbo charge sales and so invested time and money with a marketing coach.

I was committed to doubling my turnover within a year. The results exceeded expectations and I soon discovered that I actually enjoyed sales and marketing and once I had created a successful system based on personal experience I quickly realised that there was no limit to the number of leads, clients and sales we could generate. That was, and still is, a fantastic feeling!

It is this system that I blog about on Marketing For Lawyers and although I often mention our HR web service if you don't use it this blog will still be of interest and it doesn't matter what size your firm is, if you use niche marketing techniques properly they will yield great results. It's as simple as that.
