Pain-Free Marketing for Employment Lawyers

Is a social media strategy right for your law firm?

Larry Bodine has kindly given me permission to publish statistics from his excellent webinar giving an analysis of the comparitive effectiveness of social media when it comes to marketing for lawyers.  Blogs come out on top with a resounding 26.8% over Facebook at just 3.1% in one of the surveys analysed and Larry gives some tips for getting the most out of Linked in, such as join local groups that hold meetings in the real world, invite contacts to meet up and how to search for key executives in your target niche markets.

Hubspot's survey reveals the sorry state of trade shows with just 19% of the 'best bang for the buck' rating which is pretty dismal compared to blogs which come storming home in first place with a resounding 55% of the vote.

I would add that a combination of various techniques works when marketing for lawyers and you need to put your eggs in more than one basket to spread risk across the range of options. We use a mix of blogs,SEO marketing,  Linked in, direct mail, telemarketing and networking in the real world and all of it is joined up in some way with one leading into another. These elements shouldn't operate in silos.

However, when it comes to social media marketing for lawyers is a time rich investment and unless you can be pretty sure it is going to provide you with return on investment then you will find it difficult to justify to partners.  So before you decide where to invest your valuable resources take a closer look at the evidence. Larry Bodine's blog is a great read for lawyers looking for advice on most marketing topics including social media.
