Pain-Free Marketing for Employment Lawyers

How to use You tube to market your law firm

This week  I had the pleasure of discussing niche marketing for lawyers with two switched on partners in a small high street law firm. Much to my amazement they told me that they have a You Tube strategy!

It is no secret in the States that company executives are watching lots of videos on You Tube for the specific purpose of accessing useful business information and that trend has crossed the Atlantic.

The topic was discussed here on marketing for lawyers, and I pointed outthat American law firms regard Youtube as a valuable marketing channel and are exploiting it to their advantage.

However, any lawyer using it in the UK at this time is still pretty much ahead of the game and are to be applauded for it.

If you are considering video as part of your niche marketing armoury then here are a few tips to get started:

Check out the competition and find out how they are using video to engage with their audience. (A quick search on Youtube should yield some useful examples). Chances are that they are offering to 'educate' their audience because it is more interesting to their audience than an advertorial type video.

For example if you are aiming for employers who need help at tribunal your video may well  be a helpful insight into '3 things employers must know before they go to an employment tribunal'.

Ask yourself how other lawyers get their audience from 'viewing the video' to 'getting in touch'. The best method will depend on who your audience is and what their circumstances are but assuming the audience is 'employers facing tribunal' then you could offer them a logical next step such as 'call us for your free tribunal flowchart' or whatever... you get the idea.

If they realise they need to speak with a lawyer, a small but practical giveaway could be the reason they choose your firm rather than another. Whichever channel you use, niche marketing for lawyers relies on the same principles and the first is to know your target audience and solve their problems!
