David Monk is Director of Market Law and has written a book designed to assist law practices in facing the challenges of the impact on legal services, it considers the changing landscape the need to develop their brands in their market, grow organically by selling horizontally i.e. seeking more recommendation, and growing vertically , that is, selling more to existing customers.
In this video David points out that lawyers regularly say they get most of their work from referrals and recommendations but don’t have much evidence to show how they encourage recommendations. He says lawyers need to see the marketing effort as something the whole firm should be involved in and tactics are explained in the book . “I believe there are more people who would rather buy legal services from a solicitor than a book from a grocer.”
Here is the video showing lawyers how law firms can meet the challenges of the Legal Services Act.
