Having worked on our latest HR web service upgrade for 8 months before the launch last Friday, I had sworn that as soon as it was over I wouldn't start any more development projects until 2012. Who was I trying to kid? No sooner was the launch complete than my thoughts drifted to other areas of the web service that we could develop further.
However, I am pleased to say that we have never allowed style to triumph over substance. But in the main the ELE team members have used their own experience and creativity to develop our products. We have trusted our team to make progress while keeping our service relevant to our market. And to some extent we have been influenced by Henry Ford who said that if he had asked the average American for ideas he wouldn't have invented the car, he would have got a faster horse!
However, I would like to carry out more research in conversation with our clients because they use our service regularly and must know what we could do better. It is too easy to keep working on the headline grabbing stuff. Instead, for a while, we are going to focus on making what we have got the very best it can be.
So for the next couple of months, every time we speak with a client, we will ask the question 'If there was one thing you could change about the service, what would it be?' and I'm already excited about the answers.
